On January 22, 2026, RAMS celebrated the ribbon cutting of its new community mental health site at 601 Clement Street, a significant expansion of culturally responsive mental health and wellness services. The ribbon cutting event included remarks from San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and District 1 Supervisor Connie Chan, highlighting the City’s investment-based mental health care and community partnership.
Background
In 2023, RAMS was granted $6.5 million to purchase and renovate a new facility under the leadership of California Assemblymember Phil Ting and San Francisco Board of Supervisor member Connie Chan. The search for a new property was focused on securing roots in the Richmond District to relocate core organizational services.
Later in 2023, RAMS purchased a building in the heart of the community at 601 Clement Street which will allow for the continuation of the organizational dedication to support low income, under/unserved communities across all programs. The building is currently under renovation to ultimately provide a modern and comfortable therapeutic environment for the community.

The Adult and Older Adult Outpatient Program was the very first program when RAMS established in 1974 at 3626 Balboa Street. Over the last 50 years, we provided therapy, medication services, case management, support groups, community events, day treatment services, training activities, and public forums. It is quite significant for the history of the outpatient clinic to have a new home that is our own and still be serving in the Richmond neighborhood. This new phase of the outpatient clinic will bring stability and comfort for our clients, ourselves, and a greater community.

Building Upgrades
Total Renovation and Relocation Costs: $2,700,000
Our current facility is in need of upgrades. Being in a space with adequate heating, cooling, and updated furnishings will be a lot more pleasant and better for overall morale. The new space will allow for increased engagement and interaction between interns, trainees, the supervising faculty, staff therapists, and psychiatrists/psych NP, which will improve the interns’ and trainees’ learning as well as help them to better experience working with a multidisciplinary team.

The RAMS Child Youth and Families (CYF) outpatient program has been a pillar of support in the Richmond District community since 1974, an enduring presence amidst today’s fast-paced change. Over the past five decades we have helped thousands of families heal and thrive, many of whom immigrated or have lived through profound adversity, trauma and loss. Our work is grounded in a dedicated community of collaborative clinicians who hold their clients in mind and heart. In so doing, we mend ruptures and strengthen connections between one another, and across generations. Any such hope requires a place of belonging—a home where we can come together to play, heal, and grow; a home with warmth and toys where children can construct their futures, one building block at a time. We believe the new building will provide such a refuge, where families can return to in moments of need for generations to come.
