TAY Peer Certificate and Internship
The Transitional Age Youth (TAY) programs serve individuals between 18 and 24 years old in San Francisco who are interested in entering the field of mental health.
Youth2Youth (ages 18-24)
Youth2Youth (Y2Y) is a 16-week Peer Certificate training program for youth who are interested in helping other youth and/or careers in the behavioral health field. Participants will receive a stipend upon graduation. Successful graduates are also eligible to continue their training as interns in the TAY Peer Employment and Internship Program. Groups start in the Fall and Spring. Applications are accepted year-round and early applications receive first consideration for the next available group.
The Spring 2026 cohort will meet from January 27, 2026 (Orientation) through May 15, 2026 (Graduation).
The Fall 2026 cohort will meet from August 25, 2026 (Orientation) through December 11, 2026 (Graduation).
Eligibility:
- Be a resident of San Francisco
- Be between the ages of 18 and 24
- Have interest and lived experience with helping yourself or others with recovery or mental health challenges
- Available for a total of 6 hours per week including time spent at program workshops and field trips
- Available to attend weekly workshops on Tuesdays and Fridays from 3:00pm-6:00pm
- Ability to travel within the city of San Francisco
- Ability to provide documentation on the legal eligibility to work in the United States
TAY Peer Internship and Employment Program (ages 18-24)
The TAY Peer Internship and Employment Program is a 22-week internship program providing youth with paid internships in the behavioral health field. Participants will also receive additional training and continuous clinical support throughout the internship placement. As participants near graduation, they are supported with intensive job search and job placement assistance in the behavioral health field.
After a short break, the TAY Peer Internship and Employment Program begins after Youth2Youth participants graduate. The Spring 2026 cohort will meet from Friday, January 23, 2026 (Orientation) through Friday, June 26, 2026 (Graduation). The Fall 2026 cohort will meet from Friday, July 10, 2026 (Orientation) through Friday, December 4, 2026 (Graduation).
Eligibility:
- Must be a successful graduate of Youth2Youth
- Be a resident of San Francisco
- Be between the ages of 18 and 24
- Have interest and lived experience with helping yourself or others with recovery or mental health challenges
- Available for a total of 15 hours per week including time spent at program internships and group supervision meetings.
- Available to attend weekly workshops from 2:00-5:00pm on weekday afternoons
- Ability to travel within the city of San Francisco
- Ability to provide documentation on the legal eligibility to work in the United States
