Launched in 2022, Healing for Asians is RAMS’ latest program responding to the rising numbers of Anti-Asian hate crimes. The program provides essential community and mental health support to victims while fostering a safe, caring environment for healing.
Healing for Asians is funded by the Mayor’s office in response to increased crime against Asians. In collaboration with Community Youth Center (CYC), UCSF Trauma Recovery Center, SFDPH-BHS Comprehensive Crisis, this program is designed to offer short-term, trauma-informed mental health services tailored to limited English-speaking Asian victims of crime.
At RAMS’ Healing for Asians, the commitment to cultural sensitivity is evident in the provision of services delivered in Cantonese and Mandarin via telehealth or in-person office visits. Healing for Asians also partner with CYC to extend support further through impactful outreach efforts and home visits in engaging potential clients.
Furthermore, Healing for Asians actively engages in community outreach, working hand-in-hand with the Lotus Project to build capacity, offer psychoeducation, and dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health within Asian communities.
